Hogwired announced that Arkansas native Matt Trantham has been named the senior associate athletic director for internal operations for the University of Arkansas’
Department of Athletics, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long announced Wednesday.
Trantham, a native of Hot Springs, Ark., joins the Razorbacks after spending nearly nine years at the University of Oklahoma. At Arkansas, Trantham will oversee Razorback facilities, event management and equipment operations.
Prior to joining Arkansas, Trantham worked at the University of Oklahoma. He began his career with the Sooners in July 1999 as the promotions director for the athletic department where he worked with all 20 of OU’s teams. He was named assistant athletic director for event management in 2004 and was promoted to associate athletic director in 2006.
In his role as associate athletic director for event management, Trantham oversaw more than 500 events a year, coordinated the efforts of more than 1,500 event staff members and was responsible for activities within 13 athletic facilities. He also served as OU’s liaison with all postseason events including both Big 12 and NCAA championship competitions.
In this capacity, Trantham served as tournament director for more than 25 postseason championship events including the 2006 NCAA Wrestling Championship, 2006 NCAA Men’s gymnastics Championship, 2006 NCAA Baseball Regional Championship, 2005 NCAA Softball Regional Championship, 2005 Big 12 Women’s Gymnastics Championship, 2005 MPSF Men’s Gymnastics Championship and the annual NCAA Women’s College World Series.
During his tenure, he helped the Sooners to record-setting attendance figures while growing revenue and community recognition for the athletic department.
