Chuck Barrett named new radio voice of the Razorbacks football program

Chuck Barrett, radio announcer for Arkansas Baseball, has been given the job as play-by-play man for Arkansas football games.

Barrett will replace Mike Nail, who filled the job on an interim basis last season following the death of Paul Eells. Eells served as the Football Razorbacks’ play-byplay announcer for 28 years.

The University reached an agreement in principle with tv station KATV, which had backed one of its news anchors, Scott Inman, for the position over Barrett.

A formal announcement on Barrett’s hiring could come as early as today but will likely be next week.

Update: 06/26/2007

Chuck Barrett was officially announced today mutually by the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network (ARSN) and the University of Arkansas on Tuesday.
